Frequently asked questions about customs security and export control
What does AEO mean?
AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) is a security status under the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards for companies with high security and compliance standards. DACHSER holds the relevant certifications in several country organisations and therefore supports secure and efficient customs procedures.
What is C-TPAT?
C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) is a US security programme for international supply chains. DACHSER meets the relevant requirements in the United States and supports customers with secure cargo movements in this market.
What are security filings?
Security filings are mandatory security declarations submitted before goods arrive in certain countries or economic regions. Examples include AMS (USA), ACI (Canada), ICS2 (EU) and other country-specific security filing requirements.
What advantages does DACHSER provide for security filings?
DACHSER ensures the timely and complete transmission of relevant security data. This helps reduce delays, penalties and additional inspections.
What is the ISF or 10+2 rule?
The Importer Security Filing (ISF), also known as the 10+2 rule, is mandatory for imports into the United States. Relevant shipment data must be submitted electronically no later than 24 hours before departure.
Can DACHSER handle ISF submissions?
Responsibility for the ISF generally lies with the Importer of Record. However, DACHSER supports companies in the compliant execution of the filing and can provide this as an additional service upon request.
Why are embargo and sanctions list screenings important?
Embargo regulations and sanctions lists are among the key requirements of export control. Careful screening helps prevent violations of national and international regulations. DACHSER supports these processes through sanctions screening and Denied Party Screening (DPS) measures.
